Clooney calls for end of global hate campaign against China

George Clooney is asking people to stop boycotting the Beijing Olympics, insisting any such plans are excessive.

Washington, Apr 22 : George Clooney is asking people to stop boycotting the Beijing Olympics, insisting any such plans are 'excessive'.

Hollywood bigwigs such as Mia Farrow and Richard Gere have already condemned China for its support of the genocide in Dafur and the occupation of Tibet respectively.

Director Steven Spielberg also stepped down from his role as the Games' artistic director because of China's link to Dafur.

However Clooney, another staunch Dafur campaigner, insists that boycotting the Olympic games is not the answer, especially where the war-torn region of Sudan is concerned.

""It seems excessive to boycott the Games because China does business in Darfur. It's always more important to keep a line of communication open," Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.
