Amitabh Bachchan unveils promo of his forthcoming flick Sarkar Raj

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan on Sunday unveiled promo of his forthcoming film Sarkar Raj here.

Mumbai, Apr 21 : Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan on Sunday unveiled promo of his forthcoming film 'Sarkar Raj' here.

Sarkar Raj is a sequel to a 2005-released Sarkar.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Amitabh said that though movie has no reference point in particular but will definitely be compilations of real life incidents.

"As it is while scripting the screenplay, as it is with life or any kind of scripting of any story, sometimes a moment, an incident, a happening, influences you. You get inspired by it and build a story around it" said Bachchan.

"I am sure Sarkar Raj is one such example, where being affected or being subjected to some kind of incident or visual, they have been able to build a story around it," he added.

While Sarkar was inspired by Francis Ford Coppola's film 'The Godfather', the sequel will be completely original, director Ram Gopal Varma claimed.

Varma said that besides the mafia backdrop, the film is a character driven drama with a socio-political plot in the vein of "The Godfather" trilogy.

He also said it's a film about the triumph of the human spirit and a father-son relationship but definitely not an extension of earlier flick 'Sarkar'.

"It's not a sequel in the conventional sense of the word. It starts from where it ends. If you are basing a film on one character the problem is that there is a huge following. And in the sense of power of the family, for a long period of time they would have situations and incidents, which would give rise to new set of problems and then solutions to deal with it. So one better word, I would call it 'new adventures of Sarkar," said Varma.

Based on a political scenario, 'Sarkar' depicted power of a single man and his ways of giving justice to the ones in need.

It starred the real-life charismatic father-son duo Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan and had won many accolades for the gripping narrative. Amitabh Bachchan played the role of the single man in power.

In the narrative, Amitabh (Sarkar) was depicted parallel to the Government and his way of giving justice was completely diverse form police and courts.

However, in the upcoming flick Sarkar Raj, Abhishek will be seen following his father's footsteps.

Aishwarya plays the role of a corporate honcho from London who wants to set up a power plant in a village of Maharashtra.

The story revolves around Abhishek (Shankar) who realizes the potential of the power plant and its benefit for the people. He eventually undertakes a journey to mobilize support of masses in the villages after convincing Sarkar (Amitabh), who is against the project for several reasons.

However, Abhishek's dream project becomes a victim of dirty politics. Subsequently the disaster sets in as the evil forces conspire against the Sarkar's long established political kingdom.

The unveiling of the promo coincided with first wedding anniversary of actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.

The couple celebrating their anniversary in Miami were present during the news conference via video conferencing.
