Oz men trump women in bad driving!

Men might be scorn a woman behind the wheel, but when it comes to driving safely its actually the latter whos having the last laugh - at least Down Under.

Melbourne, Apr 15 : Men might be scorn a woman behind the wheel, but when it comes to driving safely it's actually the latter who's having the last laugh - at least Down Under.

According to an online survey of 2500 Australian motorists, women in Queensland aged 41 to 60 are the safest drivers on the nation's roads.

Interestingly, the male P-platers from New South Wales (NSW) are Australia's worst drivers, the survey found.

The survey results have been released by car trader Private Fleet on April 15.

Private Fleet spokesman David Lye said the survey had also answered a question that was as old as the car itself - which sex made the better driver?

"Male drivers are worse drivers in all categories except one," News.com.au quoted Lye, as saying.

"For all of the crimes and misdemeanours ... men were more frequent with all of them except text messaging where women were a bit more trigger happy," he said.

The anonymous survey quizzed motorists on their sex, age, what car they drove and how often they committed a range of motoring crimes or bad driver sins.

Questions included whether they ever drove while drunk, talked on a mobile phone without using a hands-free kit, texted while driving or sped by more than 30km/h over the limit.

"The best overall segment of drivers is female drivers in Queensland aged between 41 and 60. The worst drivers are (perhaps unsurprisingly) male P-platers from NSW," Private Fleet said in a statement.

Lye said the survey had resulted in the most comprehensive database on Australian driver behaviour ever compiled.
