Oprah Winfrey loses popularity after supporting Obama

The popularity of talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has significantly declined ever since she declared her support for presidential candidate Barack Obama last spring, according to polls.

Washington, April 12 : The popularity of talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has significantly declined ever since she declared her support for presidential candidate Barack Obama last spring, according to polls.

Political Science experts at Fordham University gathered the results of various polls carried out since Winfrey announced her support for Obama.

The researchers found that 65 per cent of Americans looked upon Oprah favourably three months after her announcement, and the figure declined to 51 per cent after another four months.

Last month, latest poll figures suggested that Ellen DeGeneres had replaced Oprah as America's favourite talk show host, reports Contactmusic.

Upon being asked which daytime host "made their day", 46 per cent of the 1.35 million people surveyed named DeGeneres.

Those voting for Oprah were only 19 per cent.
