Mumbai, Apr 1 : Influenced by the cause of saving the 'girl child', designer Abhishek Dutta named his collection 'Third Wave, on the third day of the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW).
Abhishek felt that the fashion week presented a bigger platform where one can project a cause that was the reason he chose to highlight the cause of a girl child.
"People actually think that having a girl child is like a curse so I wanted to actually take up this theme so that it does signify that having a girl child is quiet a blessing," said Abhishek.
The collection he showcased was heavily embellished, very ornate and glitzy with prints. Hand embroidery, digital large prints depicting women in all their glory, along with artistic motifs; gave the creations a fusion look.
From jackets, boleros, sherwanis, fluid pants, dresses, dungarees to body hugging knit blouses; the garments were in a mélange of fabrics ranging from corduroys, satins and georgettes.
Men's wear was as colourful as women's with orange knit jackets with print, jersey yoke and rib body, short camel jackets with contrast lapels, and quilted waist coats in shaded tones.
