Britney to make comeback at MTV Video Music Awards

Its official - Britney Spears will be making her comeback at this years MTV Video Music Awards.

Washington, Sept 7 : It's official - Britney Spears will be making her comeback at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

MTV released a statement on Thursday, Sept 6, confirming rumours that had been running for weeks that Britney would be performing at the annual event, and that she will opening the show.

VMA executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic then told MTV.com that Britney will be "doing her thing" while on stage. He would not however, reveal what songs she will be performing to other than her new single "Gimme More".

"You can expect the things we want and expect from Britney-that will all be there. What I've seen of it is great. She'll be dancing, performing, doing her thing. That's exactly what we all want," E! Online quoted Ignjatovic, as telling the website.

He also insisted that the singer's performance will not leave audiences disappointed, and that by the end they will be saying 'Gimme More' too.

"Fans that are familiar with her performance on previous VMAs will not be disappointed. She'll kill it. She'll captivate everyone, and set the tone for the rest of the night. There's no one better," he said.

Other singers who will also be performing at the event include former beau Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Fallout Boy, Rihanna, T.I. and Adam Levine.

The VMA's take place at the Palms Casino and Resort on Sunday, Sept 9.
