Brit singer Winehouse reportedly turned down gourmet food to munch on Big Macs and fries at the Mercury Music Prize held at Londons Grosvenor Hotel on Sept 4.
London, Sept 5 : Brit singer Winehouse reportedly turned down gourmet food to munch on Big Macs and fries at the Mercury Music Prize held at London's Grosvenor Hotel on Sept 4.
The soul star stunned the staff when she snubbed the hotel's food for a takeaway burger and chips.
"Staff had laid on an impressive spread from the kitchens for her soundcheck," the Mirror quoted a source, as saying.
"But she said she really fancied some greasy food instead and couldn't be doing with any of the posh stuff."
"So staff had to traipse around the corner to McDonald's and bring back a load of Big Macs and fries, which disappeared pretty sharpish."
Reports said that the 23-year-old kept kissing and hugging hubby Blake Fielder- Civil to overcome her nervousness at her first public appearance after the drug scandal.
"I love you babe, I'm so nervous. I just want to get this over and done with. I love you. I love you," she told Fielder-Civil.
Later, the Rehab star had to be separated from her hubby to make her get on stage for her performance.
At the show, Winehouse also discussed her rehab stint and said that rehab treatment is not for all.
"Rehab is great for some people and not for others. I've had a couple of mates who've gone and it's worked out great and I've got a few mates who are in and out all the time," she said.
"A couple of mates did it once on the day-at-a-time thing. It worked for them."
"I'm of the school of thought where, if you can't sort something out for yourself, no one can help you."
"You're a bit lost if you can't sort yourself out."
The star also claims that booze is 'a real poison'.
"To be honest, drinking long-term is a lot worse than doing heroin or something. Alcohol's a real poison."
"But my justification for drinking is that there's not a lot of people my age who know exactly what they're going to be doing for the next five or 10 years."
"Normal people spend time thinking, 'What am I going to do with my life?'. I spend my time drinking."
