The actress revealed the shocking news in an interview with Vanity Fair, but refused to name her mystery fiance.
"I get engaged and I get married - that's my thing...I got engaged to somebody...I wasn't ready. We weren't ready," Nicole told the mag.
However, sources are claiming that the name which the Oscar winning actress is hiding is that of rocker Lenny Kravitz.
Kidman was romantically linked to two men between 2001 and 2006 - billionaire Hollywood producer Steve Bing and Kravitz, but insiders say that it is the latter who was engaged to Nicole when she was recovering from her divorce from Cruise.
"They were even house-hunting together for a while," the New York Post quoted a source, as saying.
A representative for Kravitz said, "I cannot confirm or deny it," while a rep for Kidman stated "I don't know."
