London, Sept 4 : Director Wes Anderson insists that actor Owen Wilson is "doing well" after his suicide attempt recently.
Anderson directed Wilson in 'The Darjeeling Limited', and revealed that the actor was on the road to recovery.
"Obviously he has been through quite a lot this week," the BBC quoted Anderson, as saying.
"I can tell you he has been doing very well, he has been making us laugh."
"When he's ready he's going to speak for himself much better than any of us could.
"He has got a very good way with words," he added.
The two have worked together on a number of occasions, and have been jointly nominated for an Academy Award for best original screenplay for The Royal Tenenbaums in 2002.
Speaking at the premiere of new film The Darjeeling Limited at the Venice Film Festival, Anderson told reporters to respect the actor's privacy.
"He wishes he could be here in Venice with all of you now. We all miss having him here with us," he said.
"In the meantime, I would like to ask you to help us to protect his privacy and to respect his wishes," Anderson added.
