It seems that singer Mariah Carey owes her former manager Jerry Blair, who was also the president of her label MonarC Entertainment, a huge sum of money.
New York, Sept 4 : It seems that singer Mariah Carey owes her former manager Jerry Blair, who was also the president of her label MonarC Entertainment, a huge sum of money.
An insider said that the singer hasn't paid Blair in two years, and he has now called in his legal eagles.
"She hasn't paid him in two years. He had to call in lawyers," the New York Daily News quoted the insider, as saying.
According to a 2002 statement by the non-operational label, it was Blair 'who helped Mariah make history when she achieved her record-breaking 15 [No. 1] singles and most consecutive weeks at [No. 1]'.
A source said that Blair lent support to Carey when she had a nervous breakdown in 2001, when people had lost faith in her.
"Jerry stood by Mariah through her breakdown. He believed in her when other people lost faith," the source said.
However, the pop diva 'ditched him' as soon as she made a comeback, Blair's friend claimed.
"She wanted to distance herself from anybody who saw her in those dark times," the friend said.
The singer's friends think that her ex-hubby Tommy Mottola, caused the rift
"Jerry and Tommy fell out when Tommy was his boss at Sony Music," says an insider. "But they're working together again at Casablanca Records," a source said.
But, Blair's friends suspect that suspect Carey has been acting on the advice of label boss, Island Def Jam chief L.A. Reid who had a fall out with Blair, a number of years ago at Arista.
But, another source said that it has nothing to do with Mottola or LA, and that Blair just wants his dues.
"This has nothing to do with Tommy or L.A. Jerry just wants to be paid,' the source said.
Recently, it seemed like some settlement was imminent, but over the past two days talks have broken down
"In the past couple of days, the talks have broken down," another source said.
