Singer Mutya Buena could have faced an awkward situation at the Mobo awards recently, for her former band Sugababes was present there.
London, Sept 30 : Singer Mutya Buena could have faced an awkward situation at the Mobo awards recently, for her former band Sugababes was present there.
Buena, who left the band in 2005, was friends with Keisha Buchanan since childhood and they started the band together with the original line-up eight years ago.
The singer left the band after realising that she was being replaced by Amelle Berrabah.
Buena was extremely disappointed that she had been "cloned" and the pair stopped speaking since then.
But both Buena and Keisha broke the silence when they met at the award function."The Sugababes got me where I am today and I grew up with it. I don't mind people talking about it, but when people see me and say that's the girl from the Sugababes I want them to take me as an individual," the Sun quoted Buena, as saying.
"It's all about getting out there and making a name for yourself.
"I haven't spoken to Heidi but I saw Keisha at the Mobos and we spoke. A lot of people came up and were asking for our pictures, and we got dragged away. It's not the easiest place to catch up but you know what, everything was fine.
"It's been a while, I couldn't say how long.
"I've been busy promoting my new album and they are doing the exact same thing. I'm just trying to do my stuff and look after my family," she added.
However, Buena refused to have a heart-to-heart and a proper reconciliation in the future.
"You can always make time. But everything's so new to me, I don't think having that whole emotional time would be that good for me right now," Buena said.
"Definitely one day. We have all grown up," she added.
