London, Sept 29 : Pete Doherty and Sir Paul McCartney may ot seem to have a lot in common, but they got along like a house n fire when they met recently.
A pal reveals that Doherty managed to catch up with the Beatles egend when he interview his idol for the Observer Music Monthly.
And, the junkie singer has told Macca that he is serious about iving up drugs.
"He was overwhelmed by meeting Macca. They had a real heart to eart - at times it was like a father talking to his son," the irror quoted him, as saying."Pete promised Paul he was serious about getting clean, was hrough with the drugs, and said he never wanted to fall back nto his dark days again.
"They spoke about everything from music, other singers and even ouched on the subject of women - but that was strictly between he two of them."
And, if Doherty adores Macca, the latter doesn't think to badly f him either.
"Macca has got a sense of fun, and was willing to give anything a ry. He's really supportive of young bands and finds Pete trangely interesting. He was well up for letting a fellow muso nterview him," the pal said.
"Pete didn't sleep the night before the interview just thinking bout what he'd say to the legend when they actually came face to ace."
Another source confirms: "They got on really well and Pete found aul very supportive."
Doherty is currently at the Clouds rehab clinic in Wiltshire, here he has spent the past month receiving treatment for drug ddiction.
