Singer George Michael decided to become a pop star after being whacked on his head in childhood.
London, Sept 29: Singer George Michael decided to become a pop star after being whacked on his head in childhood.
Michael, 44, told Kirsty Young on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs that as a child he had always been interested in collecting insects. All that came to an end at the age of eight when he suffered a bang on his head.
That's when he swapped his childhood hobby for listening to music.
"I have a theory that maybe it was something to do with this accident," the Sun quoted him, as telling his host.
The former 'Wham!' front man claimed that the injury changed his outlook on life and inspired him to become a singer.
"It sounds bizarre but my interests changed in six months. I was obsessed with insects and creepy crawlies. I used to get up at five in the morning and go to a field behind our garden and collect them,
"But suddenly all I wanted to know about was music," he said.
