David Goyer has signed up to helm the big screen adaptation of Mike Mignola and Christopher Goldens illustrated novel Baltimore, or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire.
Washington, Sept 28 : David Goyer has signed up to helm the big screen adaptation of Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden's illustrated novel "Baltimore, or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire."
The move came after New Regency acquired the rights to the book, reports Variety.
The production company reportedly shelved out a seven-figure amount that not only includes the rights to the book, but also the scripting fees for Mignola and Golden.
Published by Bantam, the tome tells the story of the awakening of supreme evil on Earth.
Lord Henry Baltimore is bitten by a demonic vampire bat on a WWI battlefield. The plague destroys his family, and Baltimore creates a team to hunt and fight the Red King, the embodiment of all evil.
John Baldecchi ("Ultra Violet") and Stacy Maes ("Jumper") will produce the pic.
Mignola previously created the comicbook character and series "Hellboy" and was a conceptual artist on "Bram Stoker's Dracula" and "Blade 2."
Golden has penned novels like "The Myth Hunters" and "Wildwood Road". Three of his tomes are being developed into movies by studios.
Before he takes on 'Vampire', Goyer, who wrote the "Blade" films and directed "Blade 2" and "The Invisible," will be helming the Sheldon Turner-scripted X-Men origin film "Magneto" for Fox.
He also wrote "Batman Begins" with Christopher Nolan and just worked with Regency and Maes on the upcoming Doug Liman-directed "Jumper."
