Jamie Foxx feared neck surgery would ruin music career

Actor and singer Jamie Foxx feared that a surgery he underwent to remove a gland from his neck would end up wrecking his music career.

Washington, Sept 26: Actor and singer Jamie Foxx feared that a surgery he underwent to remove a gland from his neck would end up wrecking his music career.

The Oscar winner was told during a routine check-up in 2006 that his parathyroid gland wasn't functioning properly and so would had to be cut out - something that had him horrified.

"I was a little worried about the surgery because it's right next to the throat and I've got to sing," Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.

However, his fears came to naught, for he not only won two awards at the BET Awards the same year - Best Duet/ Collaboration with Kanye West for "Gold Digger" and Video of the Year for the same video - but also went on to receive four Grammy nominations on December 8, 2006.

His third studio album is also set to hit stores on April 29, 2008.
