Jamelia denies calling Leona Lewis poor mans Mariah Carey

British pop star Jamelia has written an open letter to her fans accusing a magazine journalist of fabricating her attack on X-Factor winner Leona Lewis.

Washington, Sept 26: British pop star Jamelia has written an open letter to her fans accusing a magazine journalist of fabricating her attack on 'X-Factor' winner Leona Lewis.

The 'Dreams' hit maker was earlier quoted in 'Star' magazine branding Lewis as a "poor man's Mariah Carey" and also slamming Lewis' mentor Simon Cowell.

"As you all should know, I am an extremely outspoken individual and will say it like it is. But one thing you should know for sure is that I'm not unnecessarily bitchy. Yes, I say things that are close to the bone, but I never have or will say disgusting things about people without just cause," Contactmusic quoted her, as stating in the letter.

Jamelia claimed that the mag's reporter, Dominique Hines, fabricated the quotes.

"Which brings me on to a recent "interview" I had with Dominique Hines of the Star Magazine. In the interview, I was asked a series of ill thought out questions, most of which were to lure me into saying headline-making comments about other celebs," she wrote.

"This 'journalist' wasn't happy with me being nice about Leona, so she had to make s**t up so her piece was more interesting and so it could then be regurgitated in the tabloids as gospel. Well I was going to sit back and do nothing, but she did the same thing to me the last time and I'm not standing for it," she added.

In the end Jamelia commended Lewis saying that she was "amazingly talented" and insisted that the music mogul Cowell made the right choice giving her a record deal.
