Singer Gwen Stefani has revealed that her mum is responsible for her obsession for diets.

Washington, Sept 25 : Singer Gwen Stefani has revealed that her mum is responsible for her obsession for diets.

The 37-year-old pop star confessed that she battled with her weight since childhood and asserted that the pressure to stay thin is because of her family.

The svelte singer revealed that her grandmother was obese and thinking that Stefani would put on the same weight, her mother kept her on a diet since the sixth grade.

"My grandmother was one of those really obese women and I think that frightened my mum. I've always been on a diet, ever since I was in the sixth grade," Contactmusic quoted Stefani, as saying.

"It was out of my mother's love for me. But I don't know if it's good for a kid to be concerned (with their weight) so early," she added.
