Washington, Sept 24 : Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac turn estranged soul-singing legends on a reunion tour in Dimension Films' comedy "Soul Men".
Based on a script by Robert Ramsey and Matthew Stone, who penned "Intolerable Cruelty," "Life" and "Man of the House", the pic begins production Jan. 15.
The movie has the two stars playing former backup soul singers who are part of a famed group.
They haven't spoken to each other in 20 years but reluctantly agree to travel together for a tribute performance in honour of their recently deceased bandleader.
On board as producers are David Friendly and Steven Greener, with Dimension set to hire a director within the next two weeks.
Jackson will begin shooting for the comedy after he completes the Frank Miller-directed "The Spirit." Mac, who is currently in negotiations to star in the film, is coming off the Walt Becker-directed Disney comedy "Old Dogs."
