Washington, September 21 : Spanish director Pedro Almodovar has said that the quality of films made in the US today has diminished a lot as compared to the ones made before the 1960s.
He said that while the standard of movies across the world had diminished due to crisis of creation, American flicks were falling in terms of quality.
"It's difficult to make a movie anywhere in Europe now. There is a general crisis of creation," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
"In America, it's perhaps not a crisis in terms of creativity, but in terms of quality. The quality of films being made there is simply not comparable to those before the 1960s," he added.
Almodovar blamed the approach of the country's moviemakers for the adversely effected standard of films in the US.
He said that the new movies made him feel as though they were children's electronic toys like Nintendo.
"This is more than just a juvenile audience, I think it's become infantile. More and more, these films seem like children's electronic toys, like Nintendo. The sense of danger than was present in films before 1970 has been lost,'" he said.
