The former 'King of pop' was reportedly getting ready to shoot a cover spread for Italian Vogue in New York at that time.
A source has revealed that Jackson has been hiding away in a fancy hotel in Midtown since Thursday "with an enormous entourage", reports the New York Post.
The insider says that the singer left the hotel only once, in order to attend the 10-hour photo session for the fashion magazine.
Representatives of Jackson were unavailable for comment.
