Washington, Sept 15 : Actress Cate Blanchett has compared British royal Queen Elizabeth I and Late Princess Diana, by insisting that the two were similar in their personal lives.
Blanchett has represented the 16th century queen in her latest film Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
The Oscar winning actress, who was recently present at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada for the premier of the film, said that the two women shared similar fragilities in their personal lives
"In a way, Elizabeth was a bit like Princess Diana, as she clung to her public when there was no one to cling to in her private life," Contactmusic quoted Blanchett, as saying.
The film explores the relationship between Elizabeth and adventurer Sir Walter Raleigh, played by British actor Clive Owen.
