Pavarotti set to rule music charts even after death

Late Italian Opera legend, Luciano Pavarotti could reach the No1 spot in the music charts - just few days after his death.

London, Sept 10: Late Italian Opera legend, Luciano Pavarotti could reach the No1 spot in the music charts - just few days after his death.

Since the 71-year-old tenor's death due to pancreatic cancer on September 8, the download sales of his song 'Nessun Dorma' have gone sky high.

Gennaro Castaldo, of HMV said that Pavarotti would get a 'fitting tribute' if his song, which he sang at the 2006 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Turin, Italy at his final performance, reached the top spot on the charts.

"If this carries on it might start to challenge for the top spot. It would be a fitting tribute." Sun quoted Castaldo, as saying.

With 1,000 downloads on the day of Pavarotti's death, the 1990 World Cup theme tune is, presently, 24 in the pop charts.
