Washington, September 10 : Russell Crowe's latest Western film '3:10 to Yuma' was the top earner at the weekend box-office with 14.1 million dollars, as per the Friday to Sunday estimates compiled by Exhibitor Relations.
This is Crowe's first number one opener since 'Gladiator', the film that won him the Best Actor Academy Award.
'3:10 to Yuma', however, generated a smaller business at its opening as compared to 'Cinderella Man', which bowed with 18.3 million dollars in 2005.
The film stars Christian Bale as bad-guy, and Crowe as a good-guy.
It is said to have benefited from lower expectations that were the result of the film's low-key, post-Labor Day release, and its relatively modest budget of 50 million dollars, as compared to Cinderella Man's 88 million dollars budget.
Rob Zombie's 'Halloween' clinched second spot at the last weekend's box-office, generating 10 million dollars.
The film saw a 62 per cent drop in its business in the second weekend. It has earned 44.2 million dollars in two weekends.
'Superbad' was third with a business of 8 million dollars, while 'Balls of Fury' came in fourth with 5.7 million dollars, reports E!online.
