The Verves Bittersweet Symphony has been voted the greatest soundtrack by songwriters in new poll.

London, Sept 1 : The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony has been voted the greatest soundtrack by songwriters in new poll.

'Bitter Sweet Symphony' by 'The Verve' headed the list, while Bob Dylan'Blowin' In the Wind' and Bruce Springsteen's 'Born To Run' grabbed the second and third place respectively.'God Only Knows' by 'The Beach Boys' came in fourth while Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah stood fifth in the survey conducted by Q magazine.

The sixth position went to 'Life on Mars' by David Bowie, followed by Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day' and 'Strange Fruit' by Billie Holiday which were at seventh and eight positions respectively.

'The Beatles' 'Strawberry Fields Forever' stood at ninth place while Sympathy for the Devil' by Rolling Stones took the tenth position.

Fifty songwriters were asked to pick their top three tracks, from which the list of top ten tracks was made by the magazine.

Cold play's writer Chris Martin chose The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony, he Beatles' Strawberry Fields and Jeff Buckley's classic Hallelujah as his favourite tracks.

"Bitter Sweet Symphony is as perfect a song as there is. And I say that as somebody who believes perfection is the enemy of imperfection," BBC quoted Martin, as saying.

John Legend, who voted for Jeff Buckley's 'Hallelujah,' said: "Hallelujah is as near perfect as you can get. It transcends your mood. I can listen to it anywhere."

Kasabian singer Serge Pizzorno picked The Beatles' Strawberry Fields Forever.

"You can play Strawberry Fields Forever on an acoustic guitar and it sounds beautiful. But the Beatles took the song to its furthest point, and the results are mind-bending," Pizzorno said.
