Sir Cliff Richard wanted to be in Hugh Grants shoes in Notting Hill

Sir Cliff Richard has revealed his earnest desire of playing Hugh Grants role in 1998 romantic comedy, Notting Hill.

London, Oct 6 : Sir Cliff Richard has revealed his earnest desire of playing Hugh Grant's role in 1998 romantic comedy, 'Notting Hill.'

Though the legendary actor hasn't appeared for more than 30 years on the 70mm screen, since the 1973 forgettable 'Take Me High,' Sir Richards still embraces dreams of embellishing the silver screen.

The actor said that he would have loved to play Grant's part, as it would have made it possible for him to romance Julia Roberts.

"How I'd have loved to have played the Hugh Grant role," the Daily Express quoted him, as saying.

The veteran actor confessed that the movie's hit song, 'When You Say Nothing At All' has touched his soul.

"Ever since I saw Notting Hill, this song got under my skin, a role was never going to happen so I've sung the song instead," he said.
