Pavarottis hand-written will leaves out second wife

The emergence of the only handwritten will of Luciano Pavarotti has revealed that the opera legend had disinherited his second wife, Nicoletta Mantovani from his fortune.

London, Oct 4 : The emergence of the only handwritten will of Luciano Pavarotti has revealed that the opera legend had disinherited his second wife, Nicoletta Mantovani from his fortune.

The will, dated December 2006, was written in Pavarotti's own hand and was released by lawyer Silvio Vezzi, who represents Lorenza Pavarotti, the eldest of the singer's three daughters by his first marriage.

According to sources close to the daughters, the will "represented Luciano Pavarotti's true desire" and was deliberately leaked following the publication of two other wills last month. n the hand-written document, Pavarotti left Mantovani only the family home at Pesaro and half of two companies they jointly owned, with the rest and therefore the bulk going to his four daughters.

"I, the underwritten Luciano Pavarotti, leave to my wife Nicoletta Mantovani, my entire stake in Sporting 2, all of my property in Pesaro. I make my heirs my daughters Lorenza, Cristina, Giuliana and Alice, to whom I leave all my other goods, shared evenly between them," the Telegraph quoted the will.

The singer's earlier two wills, by contrast, leave Mantovani with a far greater share of the wealth.

The so-called "Modena" will, dated from June 13 of this year, leaves half of the estate to his daughters, 25 per cent to Nicoletta and a further 25 per cent to be divided as the executors decide.

In the "American" will, Pavarotti has left his entire 12 million pounds American patrimony including apartments in New York, paintings and bank accounts entirely to Mantovani.

Lawyers representing the singer's three daughters from first marriage, Lorenza, Giuliana and Cristina, have already said that they plan to challenge the "American" will.
