Nicholson livid over Joker snub

Oscar winner Jack Nicholson is angry with the producers of the upcoming Batman film because they did not ask him to reprise his iconic role as The Joker.

Washington, November 9 : Oscar winner Jack Nicholson is angry with the producers of the upcoming Batman film because they did not ask him to reprise his iconic role as The Joker.

The actor gave a marvellous performance in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman movie.

He is unhappy that he has not been offered to play the role again in Christopher Nolan's new tale of the Caped Crusader.

"I'm furious. They never asked me about a sequel with The Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me," Contactmusic quoted him as telling MTV.

"It's like, in any area, you can't believe the reasons things do or don't happen. Not asking me how to do the sequel is that kind of thing. Maybe it's not a mistake. Maybe it was the right thing, but to be candid, I'm furious," he added.

Nicholson further said: "The Joker comes from my childhood. That's how I got involved with it in the first place. It's a part I always thought I should play."

The new film, scheduled for a release in 2008, will see Heath Ledger playing the role of the crazed villain.

Christian Bale will once again play Batman's role.
