London, Nov 25 : Actor Dustin Hoffman has revealed that he still lives in fear that every job he takes will be his last.
The two-times Oscar winner, who recently turned 70, said that he is all prepared to work well into old age, and is always relieved to be offered a role.
"With acting, the moment a job is over you feel like you're never going to work again. Certain things are wired in forever. I've acted for 50 years and I'm still always deeply grateful for the next role. Even today, a job comes as a relief," the Daily Express quoted him, as saying.
Despite his huge success, the Graduate star said that when he began his career, he only went to acting school because he felt he was worthless at everything else after dropping out of Santa Monica City College, where he was studying to become a jazz pianist.
He also thought taking up acting training would help him with his love life.
"I believed I was a failure so I became an actor because, in acting, so few of us ever get work. I felt I could feel proud and fail with dignity as an actor. Also, in those days, all of us guys went to acting school to meet girls, which we did. It was like a dating agency," he said.
Hoffman also said that he is looking forward to making movies for a while yet, even though he is getting older.
"I like the fact that it seems I'm ageing so well and unless my face or ass hit the floor, I'd like to go on working for as long as my body can hack it," he said.
