Irish singer Sir Bob Geldof has revealed the pain he went through when his ex-wife Paula Yates expired in 2000 and has given an in-depth into how he and his daughters deal with her loss.
London, Nov 22 : Irish singer Sir Bob Geldof has revealed the pain he went through when his ex-wife Paula Yates expired in 2000 and has given an in-depth into how he and his daughters deal with her loss.
The 57-year-old singer considers Yates's death from a drugs overdose as an enduring 'nightmare and horror.'
He frankly discussed his love for Yates, who left him after almost 20 years together for INXS singer Hutchence in 1994.
"You live this life for this great 20 years - she was brilliant, funny, gorgeous and I loved her very much. And then she falls in love with someone else. Like everyone else in that situation, you find it very hard to understand and yet you have to - and then there are the nightmares and horrors that follow," the Daily Express quoted him, as saying.
"You can imagine, you lose the person you love once and then you lose them completely, utterly, totally," he added.
The 'Boomtown Rats' singer asserted that his kids had been deeply affected by the loss of their mother.
"But what could you do? There's nothing you can do about that - you deal with it. But they're all great. They're mad and they're funny and they're doing well," he said.
The musician had three kids with TV presenter Paula Yates - Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches Honeyblossom, and Pixie.
Geldof and Yates got divorced in 1994 after she began dating Hutchence.
The singer obtained full custody of his three daughters following the marriage breakdown.
In the year 1997, Hutchence was discovered hanged in a hotel bedroom and although Yates was said to be dealing with his demise, she was found dead following a drugs overdose at her home three years later.
Geldof is also the legal guardian of Yates and Hutchence's daughter Tiger Lily.
Reports have claimed that he wants to legally change Tiger Lily's surname to his.
