Melbourne, Nov20 : Paparazzo photographer Jamie Fawcett denied charges that he had chased Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban on their honeymoon to Tahiti.
Fawcett said that he had gone to Tahiti to get pictures of Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and her basketballer husband, Tony Parker along with many other celebrities.
The photographer also denied claims that he had given bribes to the chauffeurs and valets of celebrities for information on where they were travelling.
"I don't know if bribes is the right word but I have paid people for information. It's a tip fee,'' quoted theage.com.au, as Jamie telling the court.
Justifying his stand against planting a listening device outside Kidman's Darling Point home, he told, that while waiting outside the house, on 23 January 2005, he saw Ms Kidman's security guard "behaving strangely'' by bending near a small wall.
"I thought it was odd and I went up to the place where he had done this and had a look," he said, adding it appeared to be a listening device,
The photographer he sensed something was wrong and admitted that he picked up the device before putting it back and saw the guard return and pick up the device.
Fawcett had filed a defamation suit against Sydney's Sun Herald newspaper over a January 2005 article that a jury found defamed him.
The jury found the article conveyed six defamatory meanings including that Mr Fawcett was "Sydney's most disliked freelance photographer" and had behaved in such "an intrusive and threatening manner that he had scared" Kidman.
