Kill Bill spoof becomes a surprise international hit

Kill Buljo, a Norwegian low-budget spoof of Quentin Tarantinos Kill Bill, has become an international success.

Washington, Nov 13 : 'Kill Buljo', a Norwegian low-budget spoof of Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill," has become an international success.

The movie, made with a budget of 250,000 dollars or 1.3 million Norwegian kroner, has sold in more than 20 territories including Japan, Poland, Turkey, Germany, Thailand, the Benelux countries, France, Brazil, Israel, Romania, South Africa, Russia, the Baltic countries, Spain, Bulgaria and Portugal. he movie was co-written, co-produced and directed by Tommy Wirkola and a group of friends for Yellow Bastard Prods.

It was shot in Finnmark, northern Norway, and also parodies recent Norwegian films.

The Weinstein Co. has now acquired the rights for the U.S., U.K. and Australia, and is expected to release the pic straight to DVD.

Wirkola admitted that having the movie release all over the world was 'almost surreal'.

"It is almost surreal to imagine that the film will be seen all over the world, when I think of how small it was, and how we started," Variety quoted Wirkola, as saying.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing it dubbed into Japanese and Russian. And the fact that the Weinsteins bought it for the English-speaking territories is great, because that means that Quentin Tarantino will get a chance to see it," he added.
