Washington, May 31 : US television producer and writer Diane English is all set to begin shooting the remake of production of 1939 classic for 'The Women'.
Diane is learnt to have a solid cast on board, and will direct the movie on her own.
Reports published in the media are associating the film with big names like Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing, and Candice Bergen.
The reports claim that these stars have either signed or are about to agree to star in a contemporary version of the George Cukor-directed film, to be distributed domestically next year by Picturehouse.
Less than 20 million dollars will be spent on the production, and the movie is being financed by Inferno Entertainment, Picturehouse and soap-maker Dove, reports Variety magazine.
Jagged Pictures partners Victoria Pearman and Mick Jagger are also said to be associated with the project in their capacities as co-producers.
Diane's script maintains the arch spirit of the original movie, and the all-female cast. The film revolves around a group of female friends when the one they envied most discovers her husband's cheating on her.
