New York, May 25 : Brittany Murphy's husband Simon Monjack's deportation charges have fuelled rumours that the actress married the British screenwriter to keep him from being deported.
The Just Married star shocked Hollywood when she wed Monjack earlier this month and now U.S. tabloid the National Enquirer has exposed the Brit as an illegal visitor.
According to the report, Monjack was detained on expired visa charges in the middle of the night on March 27, just over a month before the couple's hasty wedding.
The tabloid also accuses the actress' hubby with charges of bad debts and shady business schemes.
And according to sources the Clueless beauty was unaware about the whole thing.
However, Monjack's lawyer insisted that the charges are being made by "disgruntled ex-girlfriends" and that immigration lawyers concluded the marriage had nothing to do with his visa status.
