Sydney, June 5 : After being dropped from Baz, actor Russell Crowe has reportedly planned to make his own Australian-made film.
The actor revealed in an email he wrote to S magazine, that apart from supporting rugby league team South Sydney Rabbitohs, he is working on the Aussie movie with expat Aussie writer Stuart Beattie.
"Apart from Souths, [I'm] developing a local production with expat Aussie writer Stuart Beattie," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Crowe, as writing.
The film, which will be funded through a deal with Universal Studios and Imagine Entertainment, will feature Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham and will be directed by Ridley Scott.
The 43-year-old will work on the film with Beattie, who also pulled out of the upcoming period epic film starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.
The film is not expected to begin shooting till January.
Academy Award winner for Best Adapted Screenplay for 'L.A. Confidential' Brian Helgeland might also be a part of the project.
"Brian Helgeland, who won the Oscar for writing L.A. Confidential, is in Sydney until Sunday. We are plotting out the narrative for Sir Ridley as I type," Crowe wrote.
Earlier, in May 2005, Crowe and actress Kidman entered negotiations to star in an untitled 20th Century Fox project written by Luhrmann and screenwriter Beattie, with Luhrmann directing the film.
In May 2006, due to Crowe demanding personal script approval before signing onto the project, Luhrmann sought to replace the actor with Heath Ledger. According to Crowe, the actor did not want to work in an environment that was influenced by budgetary needs. The following June, Luhrmann ultimately replaced Crowe with Jackman.
