Washington, June 30 : One of the late Princess Diana's favourite bands, Duran Duran, will be performing at the concert that will be staged as a tribute to her on Sunday.
Interestingly, the group members also had the same respect for Diana in their hearts as she had for them.
"It was mutual. She was our favourite princess. We had a history together," People magazine quoted keyboard player Nick Rhodes, 45, as saying.
While talking about the band's first interaction with Diana at a charity event, Rhodes said that she was "very shy. I remember thinking how fragile she was."
He further said that their second meeting occurred at the London premiere of the 1985 James Bond movie A View To A Kill, the theme song of which was played by Duran Duran.
She was much more "animated and full of life," he told about that time.
"She was laughing and joking because she had just recently been to America and had met President Reagan. Much to her amusement, he had called her Princess David," Rhodes added.
He revealed that Princes William and Harry, who are organizing the concert in the memory of their late mother, invited Duran Duran to perform.
He said that the young Royals have specifically asked them to play their hit 'Rio' for the crowd at London's Wembley Stadium.
"We have been very touched by how incredibly hard [the princes] have been working on the event and how very important it is to them," Rhodes said.
"They are pulling out all the stops to try to make things happen," he added.
The concert will also include performances by Elton John, Lily Allen, Kanye West, Fergie, Bryan Ferry, and Joss Stone.
