Washington, June 27 : The sequel to the Oscar-nominated film "Elizabeth" will premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, as a Gala presentation, the highest-profile slot at the fest.
Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush have reprised their roles in "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," directed by Shekhar Kapur, reports Variety.
Clive Owen has joined the cast as Sir Walter Raleigh, a dashing seafarer and newfound temptation for the queen.
William Nicholson and Michael Hirst scripted the film, which is slated for an Oct. 12 release.
Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Jonathan Cavendish produced the historical drama.
Also showing at this year's fest is "No Country For Old Men," the latest from cinematic siblings Ethan and Joel Coen.
Other pics set for Toronto include Russian helmer Alexander Sokurov's "Alexandra," Hou Hsiao-hsien's French/Taiwanese co-production "The Flight of the Red Balloon," Bela Tarr's French/Hungarian/German co-production "The Man From London" and French auteur Jacques Rivette's "Ne touchez pas la hache" (Don't Touch the Ax), based on a Balzac short story and set amid the extravagant balls of 1820s Paris.
The 32nd annual Toronto International Film Festival runs from Sept. 6 to Sept. 15.
