American actor/director Denzel Washington will be honoured by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts/Los Angeles (BAFTA/LA).
Washington, June 27 : American actor/director Denzel Washington will be honoured by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts/Los Angeles (BAFTA/LA).
The academy will pay tribute to 'The Hurricane' actor with its Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film at the 2007 BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards.
"As both an actor and director, Denzel continually takes on challenging projects, and we are thrilled to honor and celebrate his immense talents," Variety quoted BAFTA/LA chairman Peter Morris, as saying.
The awards ceremony will be held on 1 November at the Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.
Washington's upcoming projects include the Ridley Scott-helmed film "American Gangster", which also stars Russell Crowe.
The two-time Academy Award winning actor will also direct and co-star with Forest Whitaker in drama "The Great Debaters," based on the true story of Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College who stirred the Texas school's debate team to challenge Harvard for the 1935 national championship.
