Captain Kirk livid at Mr Spock stealing his thunder

Actor William Shatner is reportedly unhappy with the producers of Star Trek XI for not inviting him to join the cast of the new 80 million-dollar movie blockbuster.

London, June 25 : Actor William Shatner is reportedly unhappy with the producers of 'Star Trek XI' for not inviting him to join the cast of the new 80 million-dollar movie blockbuster.

Sources close to the 76-year-old former commander of the Starship Enterprise have revealed that he is also upset because the producers have invited Leonard Nimoy to rejoin as the emotionless Vulcan sidekick Mr. Spock.

"He is very upset and has been lobbying for a role. He can't understand why they would want Leonard and not him," the Daily Express quoted the source as saying.

Shatner's misery, however, has not put any impact on 'Star Trek XI' director J. J. Abrams so far.

These developments have now reopened a bitter feud between Shatner and Nimoy that dates back 41 years to the launch of the vintage soap opera in space.

It has also revived the lingering animosity that simmered behind the scenes of Star Trek, with many of the cast admitting to loathing Shatner.

"People say you're a pompous, arrogant, egotistical, self-centred, narcissistic jerk," 74-year-old Nichelle Nichols, who played communications officer Uhura, recently told Shatner.

"I don't think you're narcissistic," she smiled and added.
