Washington, June 15 : Actor Kevin Costner is scared that he would not live long enough to see his newborn Cayden Wyatt grow up.
The 52-year-old revealed that it is his 'fundamental fear' that after his death someone else will take care of his baby.
"My fundamental fear is that I will die and someone else will have to raise my new baby," Contactmusic quoted Costner, as saying.
The actor insisted that he is scared that he will not be able to teach his son the lessons of life.
"I fear I won't get to coach him in terms of what it is to be a man," he said.
Costner married his girlfriend of four years, German model and handbag designer Baumgartner on September 25, 2004 and the couple's first child, Wyatt was born on May 6, 2007.
The Academy Award winning actor revealed that at times he fools his 33-year-wife and pretends that he is sleeping to escape getting up and attending to his son.
"Sometimes I fake that I'm still asleep in the morning. My wife buys it, and she gets up to feed the little one," he added.
