Washington, June 11 : 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End' maintained its top position at the international box office in its third weekend, with a business of 51.3 million dollars.
The movie, which generated such a huge business from 17,500 theatres in 103 markets, had a tough competition with Warner Bros' 'Ocean's Thirteen', which opened solidly with a business of 28 million dollars in 30 markets.
Paramount's 'Shrek the Third' also received a great response at the box office by raising 25 million dollars from 1,852 play dates in 25 places, setting several records.
These films are followed by Sony's 'Spider-Man 3', which did a business of seven million dollars at 6,205 cinemas.
According to Variety magazine, the third 'Pirates' and 'Spiderman' movies have combined for foreign grosses worth nearly three billion dollars.
The report also suggests that 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End' may become the 15th film to cross the 500 million-dollar mark for international grosses till Tuesday.
