Pirates baddie wanted to be Harry Potter star too

Actor Bill Nighy was brought down to earth when his director friend David Yates refused him a role in the next two Harry Potter movies.

London, June 1 : Actor Bill Nighy was brought down to earth when his director friend David Yates refused him a role in the next two Harry Potter movies.

Nighy, who stars as baddie Davy Jones in the Pirates Of The Caribbean films, was thrilled when he found out that his friend, Yates, had signed up to direct the next two Harry Potter movies, and hence assumed that he would be given a role in the sixth Potter film.

But Nighy soon realized that his friendship with Yates wasn't enough to land him a role.

"I am the only British actor who hasn't been asked to be in Harry Potter. David Yates, who directed me in The Girl In The Cafe, just did the new one and has agreed to do the one after that. I said: 'So, do you have a part for me, mate?' He just laughed, because apparently he hasn't. But you know? I don't care because I'm a pirate," the Daily Express quoted Nighy, as saying.

Speaking about his Pirates role, Nighy confessed that his performance is too exaggerated to be considered as one of his best acting accomplishments.

"I was persuaded to perform at a level that generally would be considered a crime against acting," he muses, tongue firmly in cheek," he said.
