London, June 1 : Spanish star Enrique Iglesias has been forced to take sleeping pills to help him relax, after being afflicted by insomnia.
The Hero singer had been battling the sleep disorder for several months, and then finally turned to the pills to get a good night's rest.
But Iglesias said that even increasing the quantity of pills did not help him completely.
"I have been having real trouble sleeping... I've been on Ambian (prescription drug) to try to sort out the problem. I started off on 5mg, then when that didn't work I went to 10, 15, 20 and now I'm on 30mg a day and it's still not working 100 per cent," The Sun quoted him, as saying.
"I went to see the doctor the other day and he stuck a camera down my throat to see what was going on in my stomach and he gave me a shot that knocked me out for 30 minutes. It was honestly the best sleep I've had in years! I tried to get him to give me some to take away with me, but it's for surgery only," he added.
Enrique also insisted that his latest album, titled Insomnia, is based on his experience as an insomniac.
"I have been having real trouble sleeping and it went on right through the recording of the album so it seemed like the appropriate title," he said.
