New York, July 9 : Denise Richards was looking forward to a romantic vacation in Hawaii with beau Richie Sambora, but what she got instead was the news that she was being dumped.
The celeb couple split earlier this year and the news became public in May. However, a source reveals that they had parted ways three months earlier in February during a vacation where Richards was expecting her beau to pop the question.
Instead, she got the news that she was being dumped.
"She was devastated and kept up appearances as if they were still together," the New York Daily News quoted the source, as saying.
In an interview that ran in the June issue of Glamour magazine given shortly after the couple's trip, Richards said: "Recently we went to Hawaii and people came up to us and said, 'We're so happy for the two of you.'"
"So people are starting to accept the relationship, realizing it's not just a fling," she added.
Richards' spokeswoman however denies that the actress was anticipating a proposal during the vacation.
