Guy Ritchie to helm The Gamekeeper flick

Writer-director Guy Ritchie is reportedly planning to direct a film version of his Virgin comic book The Gamekeeper at Warner Bros.

Washington, July 26 : Writer-director Guy Ritchie is reportedly planning to direct a film version of his Virgin comic book 'The Gamekeeper' at Warner Bros.

The comic will be the first ever original property of Virgin's Director's Cut comic line to be developed as a flick.

The film will be produced by Joel Silver, with Andy Diggle will handling the scriptwriting. Sharad Devarajan and Gotham Chopra of Virgin Comics will be exec producing.

Warner Bros. production president Jeff Robinov insisted that after reading the comic they knew it would by liked by film audiences.

"After reading Guy's comics, we knew instantly that the action-packed story and complex characters would resonate with film audiences, Variety magazine quoted Robinov, as saying.

The concept of the comic book was developed by Ritchie and the 10-issue limited series, comprising two five-issue mini-series', was written by Diggle with art by Mukesh Singh.

Virgin Comics produces stories, many of which are Indian-culture related for an international audience.

The company also owns original title 'Snakewoman' from Shekhar Kapur and 'Seven Brothers' from John Woo.
