New York, July 20 : It seems like Lindsay Lohan's latest sober image and alcohol monitoring attempts have failed to offer any assurance to Hollywood studios, for the starlet's new project has been dropped after she was spotted partying in Las Vegas last week.
Apparently, Lohan was to work with acting legend Shirley MacLaine in 'Poor Things', once she completed her stint in rehab.
Last week, set designer Fontaine Beauchamp Hebb informed GE and Dell computers, who had entered a deal promising placement in the movie in exchange for cash, that the project has been dropped.
"'Poor Things' has been cancelled. Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news, but I just received a call from Jacky Gilardi, the producer, pulling the plug on the ill-fated film," the New York Post quoted him, as writing to the companies.
"Apparently, Ms. Lohan's antics in Las Vegas over the weekend have scared the bond companies and all of the funding has been pulled . . . I look forward to working together in the future and trust our next project will not be as fraught with difficulty," the mail added.
It is said that insurers were actually worried that the actress still parties despite the monitoring devices she wears and daily drug tests she undergoes.
However, Lohan's friend defended the actress and said that she has nothing to do with movie shutting down.
The friend claimed that the project was a disaster since the beginning.
"She had nothing to do with that movie shutting down. It was a mess to begin with. They randomly fired Channing Tatum for Giovanni Ribisi, and then financing fell through because producers spent money like water. It was only supposed to cost 4 million dollars - Lindsay was being paid nothing for that role," the friend said.
"Lindsay is proving to everyone that she is - and will remain - sober by voluntarily wearing the ankle bracelet and taking drug tests. This is not about her work. It's about her being able to live her life and go out with her friends without people writing nasty items about her," the friend added.
