Barbara Streisand traumatised by stage debacle

Had there been no teleprompter, singer-songwriter Barbara Streisand would have completely vanished from the music scene, for she had once quit singing after forgetting her lines during a gig.

Washington, July 20 : Had there been no teleprompter, singer-songwriter Barbara Streisand would have completely vanished from the music scene, for she had once quit singing after forgetting her lines during a gig.

The 65-year-old revealed that during the later 1960s she was left so traumatized by an incident when she forgot her lines on stage, that she stopped singing in public for three years.

"I was once doing a concert in Central Park when I forgot the words to one of my songs. It frightened me so much that I didn't sing again in public for three years," Contactmusic quoted Streisand, as saying.

Streisand, who is a multiple Emmy, Grammy and Golden Globe Award winner and has bagged Oscars for Best Actress and Best Original Song only started performing in public again after the teleprompter came in.

"Then, as soon as they invented the teleprompter, I came back," she said.
