Hiltons chose money over friendship for post-prison interview

It seems that socialite Paris Hilton and her dad Rick chose money over friendship, when they accepted NBCs post-jail interview deal, though Barbara Walters, who is a family friend of the Hiltons, was also in the fray for the show on behalf of ABC.

New York, July 13 : It seems that socialite Paris Hilton and her dad Rick chose money over friendship, when they accepted NBC's post-jail interview deal, though Barbara Walters, who is a family friend of the Hiltons, was also in the fray for the show on behalf of ABC.

Walters said that since had interviewed the Simple Life star in prison, she was expecting to clinch the deal to interview the former jailbird, but there were 'other considerations'.

"I kinda figured I'd get the interview. It turns out there were other considerations," the New York Post quoted Walters, as saying on ABC's 'The View'.

When NBC offered a more lucrative deal for the show to cope with the competition from ABC, Rick Hilton told the veteran journalist that he owed a lot to her, but added that they are going to go for the deal with Larry King

"NBC's was much more, and Rick Hilton said to me, 'You know I owe you one, and I'm sorry, but we're going to go with NBC,'" Walters recalled.

Hilton eventually went with Larry King.
