Actress Cameron Diaz has signed on to star in a new horror flick The Box.
Washington, July 1 : Actress Cameron Diaz has signed on to star in a new horror flick 'The Box'.
The blonde actress will portray a young woman, whom a stranger gives a mysterious package and tells that certain things will happen depending on the buttons she will press.
'Donnie Darko' director Richard Kelly, who wrote the script, based on Richard Matheson short story 'Button, Button', will helm the movie.
"My hope is to make a film that is incredibly suspenseful and broadly commercial, while still retaining my artistic sensibility," Hollywoodrag quoted him as saying.
The producers reckon that more than 30 million dollars will be required for the production of the film.
Media Rights Capital (MRC), which is funding the entire budget, is confident that 'The Box' has the potential to become a huge hit.
"The storyline has all the commerciality of 'The Ring,' but with Richard and Cameron, this film can rise to the level of 'Rosemary's Baby' and 'The Others'," said MRC founder Modi Wiczyk.
The shooting for the movie is expected to begin this autumn.
