Washington, Dec 8 : Angelina Jolie's brother James Haven insists that the star was not aware that her Ethiopian daughter Zahara's birth mother was alive.
Haven insisted that Jolie had no idea that Zahara's biological mother Mentewab Dawit Lebiso was alive because the paperwork had stated that the little girl was an AIDS orphan.
He also maintained to Britain's Grazia magazine that Jolie would not have adopted the little girl if she had known about Lebiso.
"Angelina has a rule that she adopts children only when they are orphans. I think adoption becomes complicated whenever the biological parents are alive," Contactmusic quoted him, as telling the mag.
For her part, Lebiso has dismissed reports that she wants the little girl back, stating that she's happy that her child is being raised by Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt.
"I have never disputed the adoption... I have no ill feelings towards her (Jolie). I think my daughter is a very fortunate human being to be adopted by a world-famous lady. I wish them all the success they both deserve," she said.
