Knighthood doesnt mean a thing to Anthony Hopkins

Sir Anthony Hopkins has slammed actors who flaunt their knighthoods, as he is just not in favour of this act.

Washington, December 7 : Sir Anthony Hopkins has slammed actors who flaunt their knighthoods, as he is just not in favour of this act.

The legendary actor, who was knighted by the British monarch Queen Elizabeth II in 1993, believes that titles "don't mean a thing".

The 69-year-old star says that he accepted his title only to make his then wife, Jennifer Lynton, happy.

Hopkins insists that he does not consider the accolade to be having much of importance.

"I'm sure Michael Caine and Michael Gambon have the same view of their titles as me: that it's nice, but a bit of fluff," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

"Some others, though, go the whole hog and you wonder what possesses seemingly intelligent guys to do that. It certainly impresses Americans, but it doesn't mean a thing," he added.
